Panasonic GH1(3) Amazing Camera!

Hey everyone,

So i received my new camera about a month ago, the Panasonic GH1, i got it for a really good price.. only $350! The image quality is outstanding, especially when compared to the IQ of my previous camcorder, Canon HF R10. The camera didn't come with a lens, so i picked up a very cheap zoom for $25. Tokina 28-80mm f3.8-5.6, it's quite a slow lens, but the quality is nice in good lighting.

I have recently updated the firmware to the new 'hacked' version, which has upped the bit rates and giving me native 24p, so image qualtiy is even better than before!

I have also put together a DIY XLR to 2.5mm mic cable, for attaching my HTDZ HT-320A shotgun mic, so far it has been working great. I wish to pick up an external audio recorder though, as the GH1's built in AGC is awful, also the GH1 has no way of audio monitoring. I'm thinking of getting either a ZOOM or a Tascam.

Overall i'm very pleased with this camera, and i'm very excited to be using it to shoot 'The Haunted Mind of Aaron Menner' later this year :)

Take care, Conner Wilson.

Canon EOS 550D -New camera

After doing alot more research, i have decided that i am no longer getting the Sony Alpha A33, instead i'm going to be getting the very popular Canon 550d. Once i get the camera i will be installing Magic Lantern :)

New Camera :)

In a few months time i'm looking at purchasing a new camera. I'm planning on shooting the film with the Sony Alpha A33. Based on the specs and reviews i have read, it looks like a great camera, also... it's in my price range :-)

Now i can achieve that filmic shallow DOF without having to use a bulky, light sucking 35mm adapter, with the added benefit of an external mic jack on the camera, i will be able to record some beautiful audio aswell.

Here is a link to the camera, let me know what your thoughts are, cheers!

New Monitor

Great news, i have found a cheap external monitor. It's not very big, and the resolution is pretty low (360x240) but, it's enough so that i will be able to compose my shot correctly, without the image being upside down :)

Here it is: http://www.ebay.com.au/itm/4-3-TFT-LCD-Rearview-Monitor-car-camera-AUshipping-/110741100603?pt=AU_Car_Parts_Accessories&hash=item19c8af183b#ht_2808wt_1185

I'll be going to Jay Car Electronics later this week to buy a few things so that i can put together a 12v battery pack to power it.

External Monitor

Going hunting for an external monitor today, so that i can frame up my shot correctly, without the image being upside down, also i will be able to achieve sharp focus when using my 35mm adapter :) I'm looking for something pretty cheap, around the $100 mark. Maybe a portable DVD player? Wish me luck :)

Screenplay - Writing

Still working on the screenplay for the film, up to page 5. Still a long way to go, but so far it's looking pretty great! I believe the plot and story line of this is strong, and i have high hopes for this film :)

Film 'Teaser'

16 year old Aaron Menner and his parents have just moved to a new town. Things appear to be fine at first, nice house, friendly neighbors, quiet roads. It's only when Aaron moves into his new bedroom, when things start to change...

When Aaron and one of his mates decide to explore the new town, Aaron's mind starts playing tricks on him, or so he thinks. He starts seeing 'doubles' of himself, repeating the same actions he had done only moments earlier. Could he be seeing things.. that aren't really there? Maybe he's just tired? Or.... could it be something entirely else?

Travis Evans stars as Aaron Menner in this twisted film, that will get you thinking, and keep you on the edge of your seat!
